Road concessions: Second semester public bidding schedule promises to be record setting

The second half of 2024 promises to be a milestone for road concessions in Brazil, with seven public bidding already scheduled to take place on B3, the São Paulo Stock Exchange, with estimated investment to be contracted of BRL 53.24 billion.

As follows the Federal and State highway concession projects already scheduled for public bidding are summarized:

1.   BR-040/MG-GO (Belo Horizonte/MG – Cristalina/GO): Cristais Route

  • Stretch: 594 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 6.4 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: September 26th

2.   Sorocaba Route/SP

  • Stretch: 460 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 8.74 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: October 30th

3.   BR-262/MG: Zebu Route

  • Stretch: 438.9 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 4.4 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: October 31st

4.   Nova Raposo/SP

  • Stretch: 92 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 7.3 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: November 28th

5.   BR-060/452/GO (Goiânia-Rio Verde-Itumbiara: Green Route)

  • Stretch: 426,20 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 4 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: December 12th

6.   Lot 3 Paraná (BR-369/373/376/PR e PR-090/170/323/445

  • Stretch:  662,12 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 9.8 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: December 12th

7.   Lot 6 Paraná (BR-163/277PR e PR-158/180/182/280/483)

  • Stretch: 569,75 km
  • Estimated investment: BRL 12.6 billion
  • Scheduled public bidding date: December 19th .

In addition, the government of Mato Grosso do Sul plans to hold a public bidding in December for a concession that will include sections of BR-262 and BR-267, and MS-040/338/395, known as Celulose Route, covering a 870.5 kilometers stretch. The public bidding document is expected to be published in September.

Beyond those new projects, the Ministry of Transport plans to hold competitive bidding on the B3 later this year to renegotiate three road concessions as follows: (i) MSVias, operated by CCR, responsible for BR-163 in Mato Grosso do Sul; (ii) Eco101, operated by Ecorodovias, responsible for BR-101 in Espírito Santo; and (iii) Arteris Fluminense, responsible for BR-101 in Rio de Janeiro.
